Peer review is the independent scholarly assessment of a manuscript’s relevance, methodology, argument and contribution. JESHS follows a double-blind review model.
1. Editorial screening
The manuscript is checked for scope, scholarly quality, format and ethics before external review.
2. Reviewer selection
Editors select subject experts without relevant conflicts of interest. In double-blind review, author and reviewer identities are concealed from each other.
3. Scholarly assessment
Reviewers examine originality, methodology, analysis, engagement with literature, validity of conclusions and clarity.
4. Editorial decision
Possible outcomes include acceptance, minor revision, major revision or rejection. The final decision rests with the editorial team.
5. Revision response
Authors should answer each comment point by point, identify changes clearly and provide scholarly justification where they disagree.
